Dr. Donna Maria Romeo
I first started my Italian lessons using Rosetta Stone. After spending almost $300 on the complete Italian course, I advanced pretty quickly and then just gave up after completing a few levels. It was a chore and not fun. I never felt that I was actually learning anything that was useful. I was not retaining the materials. Then I tried Rocket Italian, purchasing the complete course. I love Rocket Italian so much more! I feel I am really absorbing the content. I like the interactivity, the dialogues, the real usefulness of the conversations. Thank you, Rocket Italian!
Rocket Spanish — Duluth/MN
I have been using Rocket Spanish for a week now and I absolutely love it! I love that I can pick up my iPad or iPhone OR jump on my computer and have it accessible whenever and wherever I need or want it! I do wish there were more interactive games to go along, but over all very impressed with this program and SO glad that I bought it!

Since starting the Rocket Italian course in January I have found it to be very educational, easy to use and especially practical since you can study at your own pace and schedule. It is very flexible but, at the same time, it remains a challenge which I find to be one of the best features. Recently with the introduction of the Rocket Scheduler and the Play It features the course has taken on a new dimension adding to the challenge of staying on a learning schedule (keeping the streak going daily) and practicing conversation with Alex and Maria. These two additional features are outstanding! Thanks to the Rocket Italian developers for these two added features...this course is well worth the price!
Rocket Spanish is an awesome method to learn Spanish. Work and constance are needed but, if you do, you will feel the progress.
I used to hear the lessons, when it is possible, in my car to accelerate the process. Thanks Rocket Spanish
I have been trying to learn Italian for a long time because my husband's family is from Italy and speak Italian. I have purchased books, flashcards, CD's, and other programs but nothing seems to work. Rocket Italian is a fun, interactive learning tool that keeps me engaged and wanting to come back to increase my points and earn the next badge. Alex and Maria make the lessons laid back and enjoyable by adding more vocab and concepts to the conversation to build on your knowledge. I am excited to continue learning with this product!
I love Rocket Languages because it takes you step by step in learning any language even though you don't speak it at all. The teachers explain everything so clearly that I didn't need any support in the forums (which is a very helpful resource). I recommend Rocket Languages without any doubt.
One of my favorite features of Rocket Italian is the fact that there are many opportunities to listen to and imitate native Italian speakers. Even though I've been learning Italian for approximately 1.5 years (I've completed all 5 of the Pimsleur Italian courses (the 5th was just released in May 2015)), I know that one can never underestimate opportunities to listen to the target language as it should be spoken. I also appreciate that Rocket provides ample opportunities to speak the language, and even provides feedback of pronunciation with the Rocket Record feature. Another feature that I really like about Rocket is the attention it gives to explaining grammatical and cultural aspects of the language. I've checked out a number of textbooks (and have even taken a formal course in Italian (with textbooks I absolutely detested)), and am impressed with how clearly and simply Rocket explains complex grammatical concepts. The areas of Rocket that I believe are weakest are opportunities for reading and writing the language. There are opportunities to read the conversation transcripts and the vocabulary exercises, but these are limited to short samples. So, in my opinion, Rocket is strongest on listening and speaking and, ideally, could use more development in reading and writing aspects of the courses. Having said that, I realize that developing more reading and writing exercises could escalate the costs, which may not be feasible from a business standpoint. I will admit that I occasionally am frustrated with Rocket Record, but I believe that the team is still refining this fairly new feature. I anticipate that this will improve over time. I was fortunate enough to buy my Rocket courses during a great sale, so I can't complain about the value I've gotten for my money. Even if I had paid full-price, however, the courses still would have been just 1/3 of what I paid for Pimsleur. Certainly a great value. This is not intended as a slam on Pimsleur, a company that does what it does very well. It is intended, rather, as a compliment to Rocket for developing, and continuing to develop and support a fine series of courses at a reasonable price.
Rocket German — westport
I had some knowledge of German before I started but this has improved my German a lot . Have been to Germany and Austria a few times since I started and my wife was amazed when we went for a meal and I conducted the ordering of the meal including a discussion on what wines they could recommend in German.

The feature that allows one to record and then listening to yourself as compared to the instructor has been a great help to me in learning the pronunciation. I enjoy using the Beginner's Spanish PDF book along with each lesson to look up word meanings and deeper usage help as I go through a lesson for the first time. I have found that the self-test ordering is the best sequence for my learning. I found that it is much easier to hear the phrase in Spanish and then say what it means than it is to read the English and then say it in Spanish (the "Know it" test). It forces me to learn to think in the language and gives me a strong memorization exercise to get the vocabulary down much more solidly. This is my second purchase from Rocket languages, having previously taken Rocket Italian. We were taking a vacation to Southern Italy at the time and would be driving in areas where English was not commonly spoken. I did not have much time to get up to speed before leaving but managed to get though about half of the beginner's course. It was enough to get us out of several jams we got into when getting lost and asking for directions, as well as recovering from taking a bus to the wrong place and trying to recover from that. Based on that previous experience, I had no hesitation in purchasing Rocket Spanish for our next vacation to Spain. I find that I am willing to put much more effort into the lessons this time around as I know it will serve me well. I also find that I am also enjoying this experience much more than the first exposure to Rocket. I have been recommending Rocket languages to everyone based on my experience and confidence levels.
I have just finished my Free Trial. During this period, I also tried several other competitor free trials, and used all of the comparing the similarities and differences.
*Rosetta Stone was easily dismissed as I did not think they did well with phrase translations, but only focused on the single word. * There were a couple others, that were just too expensive, so that was an easy "No". * Germanpod101 was very similar to RocketGerman, but did not have the progress dashboard, and quite frankly, they had more unnecessary humor and comments in some of their dialogs that were not relative to the language learning. * Rocket German was more geared to the learner. They keep encouraging routine practice, and the dashboard monitors your progress. Breaking down words into exact pronunciation has really helped me, and I only had the free trial !!! In summary, Rocket German, in my opinion was the best language course for me at the best price. I would definitely recommend to a friend. Special Thanks to Margaret G. at Rocket German Customer Support for answering all my questions and really REALLY helping me out :-)
