Holidays in Portuguese

Oi! Tudo bom? Welcome to the Rocket Portuguese lesson on Holidays. Brazil is a mainly Catholic country and as such, there are many férias celebrated throughout the year. The most famous and probably most important is Carnaval – or what Americans know as Mardi Gras. It's celebrated in February and starts the Catholic time of sacrifice called Lent. At this time, the streets fill with colors and people dancing.

Today we’ll go over this and several other holidays in Portuguese that you might find just as important as the people in Portuguese-speaking countries do.
